Why aren't ALL MLMs illegal? How do you deal with those who try to get you involved?

I don't know why they aren't illegal. I can't stand when people try to recruit me. An ex-bf of mine got looped into some vitamin scheme (those seem to be the worst), and I pretty much had to break up him with because of it. It made me doubt his intelligence. Plus he was always trying to wrangle my friends and family into the deal. So annoying.

I have wondered this myself! The only time my husband and I were caught up in one, in our ignorant younger days, was working for TheTaxPeople.net group. After that head cheese got jailed, we learned all kinds of things about MLM's (until then, we hadn't heard the term "MLM").

I have had to stop my mom from so many of these. She's getting older and more vulnerable and boy is she suckered into things quickly. Once it was Excel Long Distance, who told people not to speak to their families at holiday time if they didn't sign up–YES, I watched that video! Once it was this thing where you "ordered" stuff on the computer but it was really all about signing people up for nothing. Once it was briefly Amway (who, as a side note, convinced her to put their soap in our cake batters to make them fluffy!)

Then there is this "Pre-Paid Legal" she got into which is maybe legit, but I don't think so. I even signed up for awhile to get her off my back, but then cancelled. She was also into the one my DH and I were in. Difference is, we learned our lesson. She is a slow learner. There are companies which have otherwise fine products, such as Mary Kay or Melaleuca or Espial, but they too have all the MLM tactics.

They should definitely be illegal. Ooooo I'm getting mad the longer I think about it, so I'll sign off and bid you good night!

I can respect that you never force your business on someone, one thing you have to be careful of is they pop up every day some new opportunity. Be careful and sorry you had some bad experiences…. this is a sad situation because you are not really asking a questionbut venting.
