Because it's a scam, a pyramid scheme. Eventually someone always loses… whoever ends up being at the bottom.

You don't sell an actual product, you are just selling more people a chance to get into the company. Once people stop buying in, you're screwed.

Some MLM companies have real bad compensation plans and many people have been burned by them.

Unfortunately, this had led people to believe that "MLM" is bad. But that is not true. MLM is just a system and it can be used for good or for bad.

And of course there are a few people who were burned because they thought MLM meant "sign up - do nothing - get rich"
Which is another myth that is not true. You will have to work the program if you want to cash in on it.

Do your homework.
Study the program before you sign up.
If you don't understand it and nobody can explain it? Stay out. Just as what you should do when it sounds too good to be true.

Because they see people getting paid off their efforts, not realizing corporations do the same thing, just mask it a lot better. At east with a 'job' you get money within a month even if you don't do a lot of work.

For an MLM - many people forget to treat it like a business and get discouraged really quickly when they have worked, and worked and worked it and do not see any tangible results.

And unfortunately as with all businesses there have been some unscrupulous people out there, who made a ot of money scamming people in MLM's. Again the same in larger corporations, but MLM's are taken a lot more personal when scammed.

I agree with "because it is a pyramid scheme".

It is about selling people on selling FOR you, not about the product what ever it may be.

The minute you hear somebody say "Would you like to be rich?" or "Want to earn billions in your spare time?" You can be sure it is a scam.

That is called selling "Blue Sky".

Nobody needs to be sold on being rich or convinced it is nice to make lots of money.
